The Lessons - What They
Learn...
Every child begins by learning breath control and opening their eyes under water! They are taught about water adaptation, buoyancy and balancing. Our students learn to swim underwater and roll over to an independent backfloat. After resting and getting new air, they learn to flip-over and swim again to get back to the wall or mommy’s hands! Most importantly, they learn about water safety and are empowered with knowledge of real life-saving aquatic survival skills. As our students progress, they learn to swim-float-swim independently! While our children are learning, they are also gaining a healthy respect and love for the water. Swim Otters does not use fear based tactics to teach children to swim. We believe that every lesson should be taught by an instructor who has a caring and enthusiastic approach. Lessons are taught in a comfortable, warm water indoor pool.
While the children are learning they are also gaining a healthy respect and love for the water.
Lessons
are private,
10 minutes a day.
Children under 5, have a short attention span and they learn best through repetition. We breakdown a 40 minute lesson and divide it into "baby" doses so they retain the skills. Private lessons are always a better choice in learning a true skill. They are safer because it is one (teacher) to one (student) ratio!
Private lessons are always a better choice in learning a true skill. They are safer because it is a one to one student/teacher ratio.

For parents with more than one child, our lessons offer an added advantage of flexibility, a family discount, and the convenience of having back to back lessons! No more running to the rec center at different times to make your family's age group lessons!
When Private Lessons are affordable, why choose group lessons anywhere else!
The Water Safety & Survival Program is a 4 day a week program (Monday - Thursday), for 6 weeks. It is also offered 3 days/week for 8 weeks and 2 day/week for 16 weeks. To make it even more convenient for parents who work and children who attend school, we start teaching at 6AM. Children do much better during the day while learning new skills. That's why our hours are from 6AM to 6PM, Weekdays and we just added, Weekends - Saturday & Sundays from 8am - 3pm.
Swim Otters takes the time to teach the individual child needs to acquire these important water safety skills. It is extremely important not to rush a child. Rushing the process will promote fear and insecurity in the child. The personality and disposition of the child are key elements into measuring the speed of their individual progress. Every child is different and deserves an opportunity to learn at their own speed - which promotes strong self esteem and confidence! Once your child has completed the initital 6 week course, it is strongly encouraged to enroll in the Swim Otters' Once a Weeker Tweeker Program as it gives the student and the parent an opportunity to practice and maintain their skills.
Our Once a Weeker Tweeker Program is a followup session - 1 day a week for 8 weeks to maintain skills and confidence building. It's ideal for the parent that can't get to the pool regularly. It works! Baby grows with the comfort of knowledge and skillseet in the water! No need to take costly and lengthy "refresher weeks" - just start back in the weeker tweeker program! Skills come back fast!
Otter Stroke Development Program
Children, ages 4 and up are able to learn a more advanced sequence of swim-float-swim. They learn additional water safety and survival skills. Strokes are introduced when the child is proficient with the swim-float-swim sequence. Our stroke development workshop includes the freestyle with rhythmic breathing, the back stroke, the breast stroke and the butterfly. We are a feeder program for the Broomfield Baracudas Swim Team.
Otter Snorkeling Program
Children, ages 4 and up can learn to snorkel! Our snorkel program teaches proper use of the snorkel equipment - mask, snorkel, fins. They learn important information about the sea below - what not to touch. They learn proper breathing skills with snorkeling. They also learn to swim with a flowing kick and to become a part of the reef as to not scare off fish. Our students, again, are empowered with knowledge to make their experience pleasant, but safe!
FACT Teaching infants and toddlers "real" survival swimming skills helps to protect them from a dangerous environment in their early years and leads to a lifetime of enjoyment of the water.
FACT Babies who swim well enchance their motor skill development and lung capacity. Swimming is an ideal exercise and has been proven to build the immune system.
It’s true, it’s real, and it’s right…
prevent pediatric drowning, now!
