Meet Kathy Nowak
as the founder of Swim Otters, she has taught hundreds of children the art of water safety and survival based swim lessons, stroke development and snorkeling. She not only recognizes the importance of arming children with water safety and survival skills, she believes children learn best when lessons are taught in a loving and nurturing manner. Her style is gentle but firm, she connects with her students by teaching the lessons in a fun way which result in happy swimmers. Her students are enthusiastic and love to swim with Miss Kathy! She is passionate and committed to preventing pediatric drowning in her community.
As a water skier and a mom, she enrolled her son in similar lessons at 18 months. Kathy and her husband are convinced that it is one of the most valuable gifts they have given their son.

Kathy has undergone rigorous and intensive training to teach survival swim lessons. She is a graduate of Infant Aquatics of Colorado. In 200+ hours of in-water training, Kathy worked with hundreds of students in teaching infant aquatic survival techniques. Other requirements included the study of human anatomy, child behavior, child development and psychology. As a dedicated professional, Kathy receives continuing education through her membership of the United States Swim Association (USSSA) and attendance at national aquatics conferences. As a member of the S.M.A.R.T. FISH Certified Instructors Teaching Program, she is trained to provide the very best stroke development instruction for young children. Kathy is certified in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid by the American Red Cross. Being a member of the NDPA (National Drowning Prevention Alliance), she continues to forge ahead in new research & development in preventing pediatric drowning.

Meet Cynthia Eccles
as our newest addition to our staff, Cynthia has a stong background in swimming. She was involved in synchronized swimming, swim team, and has worked with children in elementary stroke development. As a seasoned elementary teacher of 14 years, her knowledge in working with children is invaluable. Cynthia is a mother of two boys, Cooper (4) and Mason (5 months). Having been raised near the beaches in California, Cynthia believes that it is of the utmost importance to teach water safety & survival skills to every child.
